Dr. Gleave has been in private practice in Salt Lake County since 1991. He attends hundreds of hours or continuing education classes every year which far exceeds the minimum requirement to maintain a dental license. He truly has a passion for what he does to provide excellent care and to help others. He is an experienced emergency dentist.

Eve day Penny and Dr. Rod Gleave attended to my tooth with great care and consideration. The price was reasonable and service excellent. Even though it was Christmas Eve day Dr. Gleave wasn't rushed in the least. He took the time to give me an exceptional analysis of the state of my teeth. They ask you to Google review upon arrival. Red flag. Told me I needed and extraction immediately (turns out I did not). Red flag. They try... to get you to apply for loans while sitting in their chair. Red flag. Left with only an antibiotic prescription and seeked out a second opinion. I needed a root canal. I need to start out by saying that this is NOT an emergency dental clinic. This is important throughout the review.I was experiencing... some severe pain and searched “Emergency Dentist.” This office was the first to pop up. I called and I was able to get an appointment for the same day. During that appointment, I was told I’d need a root canal. They were able to get me in the next morning.The root canal itself went great. Immediately upon leaving the office, I felt so much better and the pain was gone. I set up my appointment for two weeks out to have the permanent crown installed. The following day (Thursday), the temporary crown started to feel loose and the glue was coming out of the sides. I called on Friday and left a voicemail stating that the crown didn’t feel right.Saturday afternoon, the temporary crown fell off. I called every day but Tuesday was the 4th of July so I didn’t hear back from anyone until Wednesday. This is when I realized that this office is, in fact, NOT an emergency clinic.I got a call back on Wednesday from Penni. She told me that, since I wasn’t in pain, I didn’t need to have another temporary one put on until my appointment the following week where they would install the permanent one. When I showed up for said appointment, I was scolded by the assistant for not coming in sooner to get another temp put on. I explained that I called every day since it fell off and that I was told it wouldn’t be a problem. Her tune changed quickly after that.Penni came into the room, apologized, and gave me a $50 Visa gift card. They told me it was a “miscommunication,” but I specifically asked on the phone if it would cause a problem if there wasn’t a temp. She said no.Dr. Gleave came into the office and it turns out there was a problem. From what I understood, the gums started to envelop the tooth. He had to do a procedure to move or remove the gums (I’m not entirely sure). This procedure was much worse than the root canal itself and the pain following was also worse.They took a new mould to have a new permanent one made due to the changes that happened after the temporary fell off. I made yet another appointment for two weeks out to have that one installed.The new one is now installed and everything feels fine. Overall it was a negative experience and I will not be returning for any future dental work.read more

All I have to say is thank you! I literally came in on an emergency visit and was crying because of the amount of pain I was in. He new... right when I can in that my tooth was bad and thought maybe he would have to destroy my new bridge, but when he started he fixed everything in less then 2 hours. Saved my bridge and relieved me of the pain I was in. I could have cried again with happiness and wanted to hug him for helping me. This will be my new dentist office hands down. This is dental care as it should be. I had visited my regular dentist with tooth pain, he referred me to a specialist who couldn't see me... for two weeks (he had to take a week off for Thanksgiving). During the night I had very bad pain. I found Doctor Gleave on the web and he had great reviews. I called at 8:30 am and they had me come in at 10:30 am and they ended up doing a root canal.It is obvious that these people (all of them) really care about the patient. Of course after 12 years of post high school education the doctor needs to make money, but, it is obvious that his patients come first.I cancelled all of my other dental appointments.This is the only dentist I will ever use.read more

Very friendly helpful staff. He's a specialist in cosmetic dentistry! This is the only dentist in the valley I would trust because he... really pays attention to detail, has both temporary and permanent solutions so rather than 1100 dollars for a repair of your porcelain tooth, he can use an acrylic version as a temporary fix 2 to 6 months maybe, then he will apply the 300 dollar temp toward the full porcelain repair! This is a big deal when you have a budget problem! And the actual application cannot be detected because he is very careful with matching the color = key to customers satisfaction. And he's fast because this is his specialty! OBVIOUSLY I an thrilled!read more

I have a fear of the dentist that goes beyond the normal fear most have. Stark terror is a more apt description. I had ignored the pain of... a rotten molar hoping the pain would magically disappear for weeks. Finally, on a Sunday afternoon, the pain got so bad I couldn't ignore it. Penni helped me get settled when I got there and some how, some way, she helped me feel more at ease right away. She was so kind and so understanding of how afraid I was. Dr. Gleave was equally as kind and caring. Please don't put yourself thru what I did. I can assure anyone out there that you will be so happy you went in if you're in pain. Had I known it would have been like this I would never have waited. If you're suffering and either afraid or scared it will cost a fortune because it's an emergency visit, please don't be. My husband woke up with the worst mouth pain. He for sure thought that his tooth needed to be removed. I called all around this morning... trying to reach a dentist that could be of assistance. Over and over again I reached voicemails. Finally someone answered the phone. Finally I reached these guys! They were quick and prompt to get him into their office. Once there they did a first exam and instead of just doing what we originally asked of the (tooth extraction) the dentist gave us an option, they could save the tooth with a root canal or they could remove it as well as giving up front price quotes. My husband of course wanted to save his tooth. He said the dentist had the most dental hands and ensured he was taken care of.read more

I was very happy with Rod and Penni at Emergency Dental Care! One of my front teeth suddenly broke on a Saturday night and they were nice... enough to come in the next morning to do a temporary filling for me. At that time, I let them know that I’d be moving out of state a week from then and needed to get all necessary work done as soon as possible. They went the extra mile to create a temporary crown the next day (Monday) and to have the final crown finished within the same week! Rod did an amazing job and Penni was the sweetest lady I’ve ever met. Today was an amazing experience being here. I came in for 2 teeth to be pulled, to which the cost was low. They were able to help me keep... my costs low while even sedating me (I have bad dental anxiety).And the end of it all, given the severity of my sick teeth, they pulled 5 all within 5 minutes of being in the chair, with absolutely no pain. 10/10 Would recommend to anyone needing work done.read more

I called Saturday morning after I had called several other emergency care dentist that claimed to be open. They answered after only one... ring. Not a Voicemail. I was told they could get me in ASAP. Anytime you have to find a dentist last minute for a pain issue you question whether or not the dentist is going to be good. Dr. Gleave is a extremely good dentist. He was quick to find and fix the problem. Don’t wait. It’s not worth the excruciating pain! I’m grateful to Dr. Gleave and his staff for taking the time out of their Saturday to help me! I had visited my regular dentist with tooth pain, he referred me to a specialist who couldn't see me... for two weeks (he had to take a week off for Thanksgiving). During the night I had very bad pain. I found Doctor Gleave on the web and he had great reviews. I called at 8:30 am and they had me come in at 10:30 am and they ended up doing a root canal.It is obvious that these people (all of them) really care about the patient. Of course after 12 years of post high school education the doctor needs to make money, but, it is obvious that his patients come first.I cancelled all of my other dental appointments.This is the only dentist I will ever use.read more

Very friendly helpful staff. He's a specialist in cosmetic dentistry! This is the only dentist in the valley I would trust because he... really pays attention to detail, has both temporary and permanent solutions so rather than 1100 dollars for a repair of your porcelain tooth, he can use an acrylic version as a temporary fix 2 to 6 months maybe, then he will apply the 300 dollar temp toward the full porcelain repair! This is a big deal when you have a budget problem! And the actual application cannot be detected because he is very careful with matching the color = key to customers satisfaction. And he's fast because this is his specialty! OBVIOUSLY I an thrilled!read more

Don’t go any where else! Dr. Gleave and his staff will put you at ease and treat you like family. I went originally for an emergency and... continued to go back because I felt like I could trust Dr. Gleave. He was never pushy but was honest and patient. Also he’s always on time. I have a fear of the dentist that goes beyond the normal fear most have. Stark terror is a more apt description. I had ignored the pain of... a rotten molar hoping the pain would magically disappear for weeks. Finally, on a Sunday afternoon, the pain got so bad I couldn't ignore it. Penni helped me get settled when I got there and some how, some way, she helped me feel more at ease right away. She was so kind and so understanding of how afraid I was. Dr. Gleave was equally as kind and caring. Please don't put yourself thru what I did. I can assure anyone out there that you will be so happy you went in if you're in pain. Had I known it would have been like this I would never have waited. If you're suffering and either afraid or scared it will cost a fortune because it's an emergency visit, please don't be. This office was so nice, efficient, knowledge and great to deal with. I called with a painful broken tooth and Penni let me know I was able... to come right in to be seen. They were prompt and so good at attempting to ease my anxiety. An impromptu root canal is not my idea of a good time but they made it as smooth of a process as possible. My husband woke up with the worst mouth pain. He for sure thought that his tooth needed to be removed. I called all around this morning... trying to reach a dentist that could be of assistance. Over and over again I reached voicemails. Finally someone answered the phone. Finally I reached these guys! They were quick and prompt to get him into their office. Once there they did a first exam and instead of just doing what we originally asked of the (tooth extraction) the dentist gave us an option, they could save the tooth with a root canal or they could remove it as well as giving up front price quotes. My husband of course wanted to save his tooth. He said the dentist had the most dental hands and ensured he was taken care of.read more

I was very happy with Rod and Penni at Emergency Dental Care! One of my front teeth suddenly broke on a Saturday night and they were nice... enough to come in the next morning to do a temporary filling for me. At that time, I let them know that I’d be moving out of state a week from then and needed to get all necessary work done as soon as possible. They went the extra mile to create a temporary crown the next day (Monday) and to have the final crown finished within the same week! Rod did an amazing job and Penni was the sweetest lady I’ve ever met. I was in severe pain and couldn’t find a dentist to take me in that day. Finally found penni and she got me in right away that same day... even with me being late! She was so helpful and nice to me and sympathetic to how much pain I was in. The dentist was so willing to get me out of pain and was nice as well. They front desk lady (penni) was super helpful. She gave me all the correct information up front. There was no hidden fees or extra costs... that they put on. They were willing to work with us, without insurance. And it wasn't crazy expensive! Loved the service, loved the price and my fiance loves the work that they did on him! Today was an amazing experience being here. I came in for 2 teeth to be pulled, to which the cost was low. They were able to help me keep... my costs low while even sedating me (I have bad dental anxiety).And the end of it all, given the severity of my sick teeth, they pulled 5 all within 5 minutes of being in the chair, with absolutely no pain. 10/10 Would recommend to anyone needing work done.read more

I called Saturday morning after I had called several other emergency care dentist that claimed to be open. They answered after only one... ring. Not a Voicemail. I was told they could get me in ASAP. Anytime you have to find a dentist last minute for a pain issue you question whether or not the dentist is going to be good. Dr. Gleave is a extremely good dentist. He was quick to find and fix the problem. Don’t wait. It’s not worth the excruciating pain! I’m grateful to Dr. Gleave and his staff for taking the time out of their Saturday to help me!
